Rebecca and Chris’s wedding story:

Where did you get engaged and how long had you been together before hand?

“We got engaged in Paris. We had been together for almost 3 years before Chris proposed. He surprised me with a Valentine’s weekend trip to Paris which he had secretly organised, and proposed in front of a sparkling Eiffel Tower in the Champ de Mars on Valentine’s evening.”

How many venues did you visit before you chose Fennes as your wedding venue?

“Fennes was the first venue we visited. We did view others afterwards but all along it was the one we compared everything else to.”

How did you feel when you first visited Fennes, did you know straight away that you wanted to get married here?

“We loved Fennes the first time we saw it. We really liked the house and the Pavilion looked great. We viewed it in winter and knew that we wanted to get married in winter so the cosy feel of the house and the way the Pavilion was lit really appealed to us.”

What was your first step of wedding planning? Venue search, dress shopping, choosing a date, etc.?

“We searched for the venue first, and chose the date based on Fennes’ availability.”

How many months/years in advance did you book your special day?

“We got engaged in February and married on 29 November 2013.”

What was the hardest thing about planning your wedding day?

“Organising our guest lists and managing (and sticking to) our budget (and failing!).”

Where there any funny moments on the Day?

“Organising our guest lists and managing (and sticking to) our budget (and failing!).”

Did you have a colour scheme and theme?

“We chose a dark purple/aubergine and silver colour scheme to fit in with our wintery/Christmassy theme.”

What were the highlights of your day?

“The highlights of our day were the excitement and anticipation leading up to the ceremony, seeing all our families together, being congratulated on becoming husband and wife, our first dance together and the dance our videographer arranged to ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ – it was so much fun!”

Were there any funny moments on the Day?

“We had lots of laughs throughout the day, and we both got the giggles during the ceremony when Chris offered to give me his ‘wing’ instead of ring.”

Now you have been there done that in hindsight is there anything you would have done differently?

“We didn’t have a receiving line because we thought it might take too long, but in hindsight it would have been a great way to make sure we spoke to everyone who came to our wedding.”

Do you have any advice for Bride and Grooms that are just starting their wedding plans?

“Set a realistic budget, research prices and don’t guess how much things will cost when you start planning. Keep in sight that the wedding is important but the marriage is more so and try to enjoy the planning process together as much as possible. Remember that your wedding is primarily your day and celebrate it in a way that makes you happy as a couple.”

Thank you Rebecca and Chris.
